1- inheritance. They're boomers, might have gotten the house, or at least part of it from their parents/grandparents 2- morte. I used to rent an apartment in the house of a nice old lady in Germany. She was almost 80, but told me her morte still isn't fully paid off 3- marriage. You alone earn 3500€/month, they might earn 6000€ combined with their spouse. 4- prices. Housing was relatively cheaper back then, today there's such a huge demand that sellers can ask outrageous sums and there will always be someone willing to pay.

In which city do you work? 3500€ netto are actually a lot of money, really check your expenses. I’m paying about 700€ for my flat, and 500€ each month on Fonds and other products for savings. Rest is for food and fun. Working as IT engineer.

Well... A coworker bought her flat 30 years ago for 180.000DM (~90.000Euros) and sold it last year for 450.000 Euros. And now you know why we can't have nice things. The prices for ground and houses are too far away from being real. (Und zudem nutzen viele die Immobilien heutzutage als reine Kapitalanlage - dank Niedrigzins. Die Investoren(die genug Geld bereits haben) Kaufen Häuser zu teils gesponnenen Preisen, halten es ein paar Jahre nie mit der Absicht das jemals abzubezahlen und nehmen Miete ein und verkaufen es dann nach ein paar Jahren auch noch für mehr Geld - also doppelt gewonnen. Und das treibt die Preise und Mieten zusätzlich nach oben und "wir" stehen da mit unseren 2-4k Monatsgehalt und werden von der Bank noch ausgelacht.)... Tja...

Ohne Kredit wird das mit nem Eigenheim vermutlich nix. Alle Lehrer und Vorgesetzten die ich je hatte ( mit Eigenheim ) haben das auch nur mit Kredit machen können, oder geerbt.

Wow, just wow. Earning 3,5k net and complains. Also a house is easly affordable for you, as long as you do not live in Munich, Düsseldorf, FFM, Hamburg etc. The question is: Do you even want one? It consumes a ridicolous amount of money to pay off and maintain. Better buy a small flat (30-40sm) and invest your money.

You have to remember they are a lot older and they had quite a few more decades to accumulate wealth, invest and build their lives. In 30 odd years time some other younglings will be thinking the same way about you! Just don't let it get to you, keep it up, keep progressing, chase your dreams and enjoy your life! Trust me, you are doing great!

I'm kinda on the opposite spectrum. I manage 5 Gen Z engineers. On average they earn 30 to 45% of what I make yet I can see they have a higher lifestyle than me - eating out everyday, better cars than me, expensive clothes, getting latest iPhone etc . I'm far from jealous but I'm starting to feel that maybe I may need to advise them somehow. Or perhaps I'm becoming somewhat a boomer myself.
